"The Cry of Freedom" Background

“The Cry of Freedom”, my upcoming novel is a fiction novel. Primarily it talks about the burning social issues of contemporary periods of 1960s India. Though, India is a country of mixed culture & traditions but the key problems are the same. In most part of the country, especially in North India we can witness orthodox philosophy or mindset.

The novel highlights the Zamindari system, by which landlord collects tax from its own farmers. In such type of system poor farmers are allotted to a small piece of land and at the end of the year irrespective of any conditions or amount of produces, a farmer needs to pay his tax. As we know that in country like India, it is not possible to produce desired amount of production due to various constraints. Due to lack of expected rain it is not possible to grow anything. Monsoon is much unexpected because sometimes it may be early or late.

Secondly “The Cry of Freedom” openly talks about the gender biasness. In early days women were not allowed to work outside. The male members were the only sole winner of bread & butter to the entire family. Women were restricted to the household activities only. I can remember when I was a kid, in my native village women were not allowed to sit together and have dinner with the male members of the family. In some remote places girl education was a taboo. The mindset was far opposite form the west.

In early days strict caste system and untouchability was the greatest challenge and uneven distribution of income was common among the masses. There was no proper distribution of wealth, opportunities for personal activity and social privileges. There is huge gap between rich people and poor people in the society.

Thus novel also talks about the Social Justice, and I believe it can impacts the mindset of the readers.
